
I must make a confession: I have a love affair with FOOD!!! Food has always been one of my weaknesses. The sweeter, the richer, the creamier, the better!!! It makes my mouth water, my heart skips a beat, and my knees get weak. Every mouthful of calorie laden goodness of Ben and Jerry's Karamel Sutra ice cream used to send me into a heavenly state of bliss. And it showed... From my swollen looking face and chubby cheeks down to my protruded stomach and lumpy thighs, my physical appearance truly resembled my food preferences.
I'd cringe at the thought of a diet consisting of the so-called "clean" foods: cottage cheese, chicken breasts, brown rice, and brussel sprouts!!! Gag... How could anyone spend their life eating bland, tasteless, disgusting foods day after day? I knew it was good for me but I couldn't stick with it. With every failed attempt at weight loss, I knew I had to find a solution to my boredom with healthy food. So I headed for the kitchen...
I decided that with a little experimentation, I could learn to cook great-tasting healthy meals. Inspired by Penelope Cruz's movie "Woman On Top", I started to pay attention to the look, feel, and scent of foods as well as their taste. I spoke with and learned from world-renowned chefs for choosing the freshest ingredients, using the healthiest techniques and creating beautiful presentations. I tried new recipes and experimented with some of my own creations. It started to open up a whole new world to me. I recognized the taste of rosemary, the addition of olive oil, the scent of sage. And something strange happened... I started to fall in love with healthy cooking!!!
I now have a new love affair and I want to explore that with you. From picking out the best quality and freshest ingredients to using the healthiest cooking techniques, you will begin to crave healthy food! It doesn't take butter, salt and a lot of extra calories to create beautiful, great tasting meals. It doesn't have to be time-consuming, expensive, or difficult either. All it takes is a little know-how and opening your mind to new flavors, foods, and passions.
